Compressed air plays a crucial role in labelling automation and remains widely used across manufacturing and packaging environments. For many applications, pneumatically assisted systems provide reliable and proven performance, making them a practical choice for a wide range of production lines.

However, some facilities are now reviewing how compressed air is used within their operations. This can be driven by factors such as limited air capacity, space constraints, sustainability objectives, or longer-term plans to future-proof production infrastructure. In these cases, manufacturers are not necessarily looking to remove compressed air altogether, but to reduce dependency where it makes operational sense.

QuickTamp Airless is a new product from Evolabel, developed for operations reassessing how compressed air is used within their labelling environments. Industrial Labelling Systems (ILS) is pleased to introduce this latest addition to the Evolabel range to customers across the UK and Ireland.

What is QuickTamp Airless?

QuickTamp Airless is a tamp-style applicator designed specifically for box labelling applications where variable box heights are common. Unlike traditional tamp applicators, it operates without the need for compressed air at the point of application. This makes it well-suited to environments where air availability is limited, being reduced, or is no longer desirable as part of future automation planning.

Compressed air plays an important role in many industrial applications, whilst QuickTamp Airless provides customers with greater flexibility when specifying labelling equipment to meet both current requirements and future planning.

Consistent Box Labelling with Variable Carton Heights

Box labelling often involves handling a wide range of carton sizes and heights throughout the production day. In these environments, consistent label placement is essential to support downstream scanning, traceability, and warehouse efficiency.

QuickTamp Airless builds on the established QuickTamp applicator, offering reliable label application to variable-height boxes without the need for compressed air. Removing the need for air supply supports a more compact system design, which can simplify integration where space around the production line is limited. The applicator is designed to operate at production speed, helping maintain throughput while achieving consistent label placement.

Reducing Air Dependency in Automated Labelling

ILS print and apply systems are already designed to minimise compressed air usage compared with many traditionally pneumatically driven machines. By using electrically driven components where possible, ILS solutions reduce reliance on air while maintaining precise and dependable label application.

QuickTamp Airless extends this approach by removing the requirement for compressed air at the applicator entirely. This simplifies the system design to support reliable long-term operation and can contribute to reduced energy use at the point of application. QuickTamp Airless also reduces interruptions linked to air supply issues, while maintaining consistent labelling performance across shifts and production runs.

New Installation or Retrofit Upgrade

QuickTamp Airless can be supplied as part of a new print and apply system from ILS. It is also available as a retrofit upgrade for existing QuickTamp installations, allowing current equipment to be adapted without the need for a full system replacement. This flexibility supports phased investment and enables businesses to respond to changing operational requirements with minimal disruption to production.

The QuickTamp Airless can be supplied and installed across the UK and Ireland by Industrial Labelling Systems, with ILS customers benefitting from automation expertise, engineering support, and ongoing service.
